The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil
- good stuff, i often use this all over as a 'serum' on days my skin need special care~ other times, i may occasionally use this as spot treatment on spots.
Laneige professional make up remover Lip & Eye make up cleanser
- not that good. too gentle in terms of cleansing power and too irritating in terms of gentleness.. who likes something that is harsh on the eyes when it can't remove any make up?
Embryolisse Crème Hydratante à l’extrait d’orange
- love this. my skin literally drank this tube up. (it's a 50ml) I found applying make up on top of this slightly difficult as the cream can rub off like those eraser debris. but nevertheless this is a good moisturizer. i would repurchase if it is available and will use it at night :)
Looks like I'm doing quite well on using things up...

- Biguine attractive mascara (spectacular volume, high definition brush)
Like this a lot. Adds definition and lengthens a little. But I prefer a more Volumizing and curling formula. Does not smudge/ drop flakes or creates spider/ bug legs lashes. Good.
- Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Not bad. But not a must for my skin. Plus, it's expensive and smells kinda weird. Skin does feel tighter and brighter slightly.
- Biore makeup removal facial wash
Nice stuff. Lathers well and leaves your skin fresh and soft. Scent is adorable (the classic biore scent to me), which is the same scent of the biore scrub in pink tube. Not bad but I might not repurchase, so much alternatives to venture out!
- Clinelle soothing skin toner
Nice, soothing, refreshing, slightly moisturizing. I'm glad I have a couple bottle of back-ups. It is in a good spray bottle and the dispenser is really good!

doing make up on others - one word - 'fun'!
false eyelashes - i wonder when will i grow tired of these? they are so much fun to work with, and feel so much pretty-er when applied (compared to wearing good thick layers of mascara) plus being in hk, i am open to a huge market/supply of cheap/affordable options.
getting pay cheques - literally, how bad can this be?
working full-time in a conservative office - meaning can't spend endless time in doing creative, extravagent makeup ><
taking photos of self and products - just feel bored n dont want all that fuss

Hence, let me just keep a brief record of what I really used up and thrown away... (hence?)
- Dr. G spf30 (good stuff, would rebuy if the price is lower)
- Dr. G spf50+ (good stuff, might rebuy if cheaper)
- estee lauder advanced night repair (good for the 1st week, then not special onwards)
I'll try to update the facial masks (sheet masks) that i use up next time.

1.Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or Nice hair and no make-up? nice make-up and messy hair. a pony-tail or messy bun will be fine for most occasions i suppose.
2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out? eyelashes. it may be painful but as mine are not too thick/long to begin with, i think i can stand it. plus i'm quite used to wearing falsies now ;)
3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life? i wanted to say MAC, but before i have a PRO card (or before PRO card system even works in HK), i'd say sephora (but hey! sephora couldn't stand the ridiculous rent in HK @@)
4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm? the previous.. coz we can choose the lipliner colour, don't we?
5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush? blush. so much easier to correct if i realise it :P
6.Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public? pretending i don't know both of these. :P
7.Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered? i don't do fake tan so i can't say. perhaps weird tan lines?
8.Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color? bad colour becoz it's easier to dye back.
9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever? goodbye twitter~
10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara? this is a genuinely difficult one. but i'd give up brushes i think, coz sponges/sponge tip applicators can work as fine as brushes for me (although i still love love love my brushes). but mascara is hardly replaceable!

So, I received this very humble sample of Lush mask (redemption of a free coupon that comes with a free newspaper :P) which was exciting as I have never tried Lush on my skin, smelling Lush in the stores clearly doesn't relate to this!, and I love freebies. (humble confession, i suppose)
I am preparing to use Oatifix on one side of my face, and The Body Shop version of this (I guess, w/o the banana :P)
Triple action in double time. Smoothes and conditions normal to dry skins with natural kaolin clay, oatmeal and organic Community Trade honey.
organic honey - Moisturises and helps condition the skin.+ Oatmeal grains - Help to gently remove dead skin cells without irritating the skin, leaving it smooth and refined. + Kaolin clay - Is a mineral that helps to restore the skin's natural balance. Helps to draw impurities out from the skin.
Was it my skin or the products? They don't do much difference to me except a little smoothening and brightening, which most scrubs do. The smells are beautiful, although I still prefer the TBS version over the Lush. To be short? This is a good Lush product, not one that I'd buy unless: 1st I use up more of my cream masks, 2nd the TBS version is discontinued, and 3rd my other exfoliators do not work anymore on me.
What next should I try out from LUSH?

Starting with my favourites. Reserve Naturelle lipgloss in pearl pink (not know exact colour) was gifted to me by my favourite French girlfriend Claire, who maybe better known on youtube as make up 'guru' Claire0147. Being a lipgloss, it has almost a metallic pearly finish and is quite opague. It is very pretty but not the easiest to wear. I had to pair this up with some brighter colours, in order to avoid looking washed out/sick.
NoirBlanc lipglosses are my recent purchases (yes i broke, again, the ban). They are very cheap and very lovely! (by the time this is published, I have probably purchased a few more)
Bourjois make good lipglosses. Very reasonably priced and very decently fragranced and applied~ the far left and far right are Eau de Gloss, which contain a lot of moisture (water is dominant in the ingredients, even in excess!) they feel so good on lips but do not last long. these 2 are the cosmic version, meaning infused with fine glitters (which can be finer IMO). i used to had a normal version (i.e. w/o glitter) but that turned bad quite soon. maybe within half a year after opening. perhaps the high water content attracts bacteria~
the 2nd on the left is a minty gloss, which claims to make teeth whiter with its blue tint. it feels very refreshing and soothing at the same time on lips. a tiny bit sticky though (like some of other bourjois glosses)
the red cocktail gloss is one of my all time favourite lipglosses. adds youthfulness to one's face instantly with it's bright clear tint. smells fabulously as well!
the nudey pink in the centre is another 'hg' of mine. being pink, being nude, moisturising and not pale! very good companion to pair up darker eye looks!
the beige gold colour has the same problem as the reserve naturelle on me. it's pigmented and metallic so when applied alone, i look a bit washed out. a very nice highlight to go with other bronzy, orangy or coraly shades though!
the clear glitter is nearly brand new. i just don't know how to use that! (it came as a free gift with purchase when i splurge couple of hundreds at a bourjois counter years ago. and yes, bourjois does work as standalone stores and counters at dept stores here in hong kong!)
my poor little mac lipglass collection?
my favourite has to be the viva glam something, which is the 2nd from the left. the rest are nearly brand new and i guess i would keep them for a while until i start using them... the 3 on the right came from yahoo auction and are quite cheap i believe... anywayz
FSP is a drugstore line of shiseido which was discontinued ages ago. this is the only lipgloss left (i used to have several more but they were either used up or tossed out expired). i do not understand why fsp is discontinued, as a customer, coz their products are SO good. i still own 3 of their eyeshadows, 2 of their versatile face paints and 1 of their nail polish thinner. i'm afraid this lipgloss may be the first to leave as it's getting old and used up ><
the blossom kiss pale gold lipgloss is a japanese tube i grabbed at sasa. not too much to say. clear, juicy and pretty.
esprique de kose gloss came in a holiday set. quite new, no comment?
nude bon bon lipgloss is marketed as 'OL-must-have' in japan, and asia. it is so true. i love this to death! whenever i have special working appointment, interview or serious events i will only think of this product and wear nothing but it! moisturising, elegant shade, perfect staying power and reasonable price are all of its pros! cons are... not the easiest to buy (so far i only see these in log-on) and only 4 shades available (as far as i know)
heavy rotation nude glosses. the darker 2 shades are almost close to the nude bon bon family, while the 2 paler ones are perfect naughty smoky eyes' friends. these together with the lip concealer are quite thick, moisturising and infused with coconut scent (and oil perhaps). like these so much i have a back up for the darker mauvy shade~
e.l.f. lipglosses are my girlfriend phoebe's custom purchase (is this an official term? well..) they all cost us$1 per piece and work wonder for their price! the plumping glazes with 2 ends are minty, feel esp. comfy on lips and give pretty glossy effect. the liquid lipstick are more pigmented (still sheerer than other liquid lipstick i suppose) and have a decently long wear~ these are great great products!
covergirl amazemint is another refreshing gift from a girlfriend from the States, Selby, who's a makeup 'guru' on youtube . We had a swap last year or so and this was in her package to me. the shade is very very pretty pink (i'd say universally flattering on fair to medium dark skin) and the texture is light and amazing :P
revlon gloss in nude lustre is another all time favourite of mine. i will buy a back up once this is nearly to its end (which is almost time). the colour is natural and looks good with any looks (almost). it is also cheap and accessible... etc
loreal tube is a good old liquid lipstick type. had not had that much use out of it, but coz the colour is great and hasn't yet turned bad hence is still here :P
kiehl's lipglosses are just ok. (there's still a french rose colour which is in my sister's bag when i took this photo. that was my fav out of these 3) but still... the best part is the peachy sweet scent, not the colour nor moisture (the glitters in one of these feel harsh actually)
estee lauder ones came in a holiday set and are not quite used, not bad, i guess :P
I LOVE CLINIQUE SUPERBALM lipglosses! i guess ultimately, one day, i will purchase all shades of this gloss coz it's really very very good! very moisturising, not expensive, colour is pretty (creamy and soft and w/o poor shimmer n glitter) thick and juicy looking without being too sticky and goo-y. decently long wearing and doesn't smell or taste badly. a perfect gloss in general! and did i mention it? all shades seem to work on everyone coz they're lovely!
except the maybelline one, all in this photo are souvenirs of love from angie my sweetest girl (a london student). my fav must be the high shine gloss from no.7 which is (again) discontinued.
nyx glosses are good. i like all of them. just wish the cherry-medicine could be replaced by another better sweet fake smell.. but that is not too bad, i can stand it still :P these are all creamy and pretty. my fav is the 3rd from right (i think) which is called whipped :)

Pond's Cleansing Oil (the yellow bottle ) and Biore Cleansing foam (pink bottle)
Dr Hauschka Gesichts tonikum (in a very beautiful spray glass bottle)
Embryolisse creme hydratant a l'extrait d'orange
Yes to carrots exfoliator (just trying to use this up)
Clinique derma white brightening eye cream (the lower pot of the 2 white babies)
the net thing to foam up cleansers~ marv.!
none at the moment
Mayblesally tea tree conditioner.
I don't use heat in my hair
a natural wooden brush from beauty supply store!
IPSA gloss water foundation or Rimmel lasting finish. I always mix foundatino with some shimmery base, e.g. eyeko cream (the pink one) or privacy #102 (japanese brand). Just to sheer down the foundation and use up the shimmery bases :P
don't need too much concealing this month (touch wood)
my new Beautymaker powder (with a faux diamond top)~ beautiful finish!
Everyday Minerals 'soft bronzer' (the palest pretty colour I hv used on my skin!)
Boots Natural Collection Blushed cheeks in 'pink cloud' (maybe my HG)
MAC mineralize skinfinish in 'shimpagne'
trying different ones
everything in my CS 78 palette. (not from Coastal Scents though. LOL) And all of my baked eyeshadow.
Sephora eyebrow pencil in 01. I also use a pretty neutral, almost golden camel colour from my CS 78 palette to fill in my brows. Very natural!
Bourjois liner clubbing
none coz i was intensively practising false eyelashes wearing this month :P
NoirBlanc, a right purchase!
Everyday minerals lavender murumuru lipbalm. I wish they will come back with the tin form. I hate their current plastic sticks.
Foundation brushes (like my MAC 190 and broken essence of beauty 'foundation & conceal')

Bronzers - I don't wear them enough and now I'm kinda falling in love with them.
Green tea - It's almost as easy to make as water when I use those handy tea bags. Taste a little better than water and perhaps a little better in nutrional values :P
Revlon 110 Really Rosy nail polish - this is almost identical to a Dior polish which i have forgotten the name of, very beautiful and 'gentle' medium pink, tending towards the grey side, (i guess?) it just costs hk$20 which is about 2 euro... consistency is nicer than nice and i love this! :P
Waiting for Souvenirs/parcels - 1 nail polish order on its way, and a lot of souvenirs from my parents coming back in a few days. so looking forward to both!
Camera-less - Parents took one with them to Europe, and my sister won't let me use the other one. Sad.
Penni-less - After splurging on 3 shu uemura palettes and much MAC, i'm officially poor :(

I like Nyx cosmetics overall. This particular product, though, let me down. It is the Felt Tip Liner in Extreme Black. I bought this last year after watching julieg713 uses it in her videos, and waited for a '20% off' sale @ cherryculture (btw, that is not too big a discount considering I need to pay quite a sum for shipping @@).
1st down: It is totally water-soluble. You shall not need any kind of make up remover to take this off your skin. It will just go like water. Imagine how it lives on your lid... @@
2nd down: It is not black. It is greenish/bluish grey. Somewhat like the colour of old faded tatoos you see on others... = ugly :( well.. at least to me. There must be someone out there insanely in love with faded black with strong hint of mold, huh?
3rd down: It is not cheap. Nyx isn't marketed as an expensive brand, so I can accept worse quality. But I believe this cost about US$7...
However bad and the fact that I really dislike this, I am now using it frequently, hoping to use it up (or it to dry up ASAP)... there is at least something good to it, i.e. the felt tip is really well-designed and easy to use/apply on the lid for however thick/thin liner you desire. the weather is normal these days, around +/- 20degreeC so i don't sweat/produce too much oil to melt the lines I painted on my lids. Not a definite no to use but a definite one to repurchase!
- nyx is not necessarily good.
- there must be some possible ways to use up something that doesn't work... (self-contradiction?)
- think thrice before purchase.

YAY for breaking the ban AGAIN @@
I got 3 lipglasses and 1 lipstick from a seller on yahoo auction. these cost me HK$240 altogether. what a deal! (they are all BNIB = brand new in box!)
I got Almondine, Ember Glow and Naked Frost lipglass;
plus Bubble lipstick (glaze finish).
some brief swatches on the back of my hand, from left: bubbles, almondine, ember glow, Bourjois effect 3D gloss in no.1, naked frost.
um... yes... so I already find a dupe for naked frost in my collection. Bourjois no.1 is slightly gold-er and lighter than the mac version but... so close @@ plus, side note, I always like bourjois' lipglosses' formula than mac... what the... @@
I was tempted by good bargain and got the above. Gosh french manicure set with 2 nail polishes, 1 top coat and stencils for white tips. Normally 1 polish costs about HK$78, and now this set just costs HK$75, cheaper than 1 polish!
the french manicure set's instruction and the stencils~
Together with this set, I picked up 2 sets of the barielle mani/pedicure sampler. 1 set with 3 little samples costs HK$12.9 which I now think is not really that cheap :P anywayzz
Hail Watson's :P
-How many times do you wash your face daily?
Twice. Just wiping with a damp sponge in the a.m. and ‘formal’ cleansing during my shower in the evening.
-What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Dry combination to extreme dry. It really depends on the weather but I feel like I am always dehydrated.
-What is your current facial wash?
I constantly have a few products standby in my shower. Right now I'm using a local salon brand foamless cleansing milk, and another Japanese cleansing foam with milk essence.
-Do you exfoliate?
Yes, every other day usually.
-What brand do you use?
Same as facial wash, I have more than one in use. Right now it is a salon brand lactic acid scrub, and another one from Yes to Carrots (which is very good minus the no-scent smell).
-What moisturizer do you use?
I love my embryolisse, thanks Claire!
-Do you have freckles?
Just a few dots right on top of my cheeks. Not 'too' obvious, but visible.
-Do you use eye cream?
Yes, but not as regularly as I did. I am too lazy to do that extra step @@
-Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Not quite. Every month I have some bad-skin days but that only involve a 2 or 3 noticeable breakouts.
-Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
Tuesday, 23 March 2010
So... I went to a beauty supply store in Jordan yesterday because I want to take a look at 'professional' salon brand shampoo which might help me build volume in hair.
After strolling some time inside my favourite supply store, I realize I have done enough research and would better take a look at other stuff. So almost instinctly, I turn my eyes towards make up brushes and false lashes.
False lashes, I already have all the styles I like that store stocks, so I focused on brushes. I found the bamboo brush sets which look close to identical as ecotools, but they don't appeal to me as much as these beauties I picked up. They cost HK$38 each, which is about US5??
I don't possess the version that coastal scents sells, but I reckon they will be basically the same, most probably made in china :P
my 2 new brushes placed next to a loew cornell 3/4 maxine mop.
These photos are taken after they're washed with tap water and then dried. They smell a little goat-like but fine for me (the smell only suggest that they're natural and not overly dyed/bleached!)
I may later post another picture of the 'mop' face brush of this brand 'colour2) and post it here too. That one is a very very good face brush as well! I definitely want to go back and get more of these high quality bargains!!!
I got this discounted box set (perhaps from last Christmas) at Watson's pharmacy 2 days ago. It costs HK$95 (about US$12) and it was a great deal. Plus there was a free eyeshadow with purchase. I used some cash points (loyalty points, however you call it) and got HK$10 off (which is about US$1+)... So in the end I had this for ~ US$11
Nail lacquer in Rainbow.
From top to bottom, white eyeshadow (no. 244), trio (TR1 fudge).
close up of the gold eyeliner (009golden globe)
close up of the eyeshadows.
Gosh Rainbow on top of Etude house PP904 (excuse the ugly cuticle :P)
Should seriously restrain self from buying... except that, a few lip products are on their way... (I confess...)

my first swatch shall be 'the' Creme d'nude lipstick from MAC. it is the first back-to-mac product i got.
sorry for the appearance of the bullet. it melted when it's NOT too warm. cremesheen formula is really really soft. @@

a) Bourjois 10hr sleep effect foundation. The smell + the consistency are both nice. And it kind of mimics the 10hr sleep effect…
b) Painting nails. After neglecting my boxes of polishes, I finally find the ‘energy’ to paint my toes and fingers. The etude nail polishes are really quite decent for their prices. Nice!
c) Vaseline rosy lips. I adore the fragrance and moisture! :P
d) My room. After tidying up and re-organizing almost the entire set up of my room, I like my room so much now :D
e) Drinking water. Will this ever be an ‘out’ for me?
a) My volume-less hair. I think conquering this shall be ‘the’ challenge’. >< Perhaps I shall start practicing teasing, blow-drying and hair-spraying?
b) Wishing something I already know I have dupes of. In saying this I mean another gold/silver eyeliner and neutral eye shadow palette… GOSH @@
c) School work. To graduate.
d) My cuticles. Time to wear hand cream, seriously, regularly. :P

This is my first official blog @ blogspot. I am hoping to treat this as a place to relieve my constant ache to wanting more make up by talking about what I already have, and how I feel, like and dislike about them.
As I have loads of products that can last me ages, if not centuries, I feel that it's MORAL for me to stop buying make up. Make up products do expire.
So, first of all, I'm banning myself to buying these products, for 2010, hopefully:
- Lipgloss (these expire so soon I hardly even go through half of each before I toss them away)
- Mascara (I do dispose them after 3-6 months, but considering the dozens new ones in my storage -- BAN)
- Gel/Cream eyeliner (because I never use them and I need to KO the 8 or 9 pots on hand first. they're opened and used and drying up -- what the .. !)
- Liquid Eyeliner
- Liquid foundation (use them up! use them up!)
- Liquid/Cream Blush/Bronzer/Highlight
- Cream Eyeshadow
- Lip liner (I don't use these and I don't need these)
- Eye liner pencil
Then, there are items I shall reconsider 3 times, or more, before buying:
- Lipstick (because I rarely wear them)
- Cream/Stick Foundation (like these but I think using up liquids will be a bigger concern :P)
- False eyelashes (these babies don't expire but I don't throw them away either... given that I have hundreds of pairs of them in stock, why buy more?)
- Powder eyeshadow (I simply have too many; but who can resist some good neutrals and bronzes?)
- Nail polishes (Withstand the 'limited edition' temptation!)
- Powder Contour/Bronzer/Blush
Buy when I feel like (i.e. almost no ban?):
- Minerals Foundation/Highlight/Blush (I collect them ^^)
- Eyeshadow primer (finding The One)
- Brow stuff
- Brushes and accessories
I have a few series of blogs to write in mind, probably I'll do some sort of a collection review first, along with some swatches or short reviews.
