I mentioned this in my P20BH that I will not count this order. I even allowed myself for 1 more purchase from HoG in this project because I had quite high hopes for the scents and products. Well... I have not yet tried everything (just the initial sniffing for some scents), but I guess I will still give my few cents on the things that I've started using!
Sweet Rosa Lip Balm (US$3.5 for 0.2oz)
Nicely moisturizing and I adore this fragrance! It is identical to the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil, which I love because of the scent (I think). I have been wearing this on and off since receiving, and I would say I will consider repurchasing this, for the scent, the decent packaging and the moisture!
Ghost Puffs Pumpkin Butter (US$4.5 for 2oz)
Fragrance - Buttery popcorn and marshmallow goo orbs, presented on a wooden stick.
Doesn't smell sweet enough to me based on the description! It does have the popcorn and slight baked (wooden stick?) scent. Turns more butter-y on my skin. I quite like the pumpkin butter consistency! Creamy but not too oily. Moisturises well too.
Twice is Nice Pumpkin Butter (US$4.5 for 2oz)
Fragrance - Sweetest offerings of opulence! Buttery sugar cookie, with shavings of creamy coconut and topped with toasted almond slivers!
Interesting indeed. Not just flat coconut as I expected. The almond and cookie wheat with slight bitterness (as the word 'toasted' hints) make this just a little bit more complex...
Pumpkin Queen Sugar Exfoliant/ Emulsifying Scrub (US$11 for 7.5oz)
Fragrance - Gentle hay pillows, pumpkin, ripe peaches dusted with clove and nutmeg, dried summer herbs, and lastly, a lovely crown of amber.
It smells complicated, smoky, weird but tolerable. I don't love this, it just seem to be burnt or mixed with cigarette. However I don't hate this either, because I can pick up some unknown notes that seem quite extraoridnary, compared with your drugstore or designer brand fragrances.
I am quite eager to trying out how the moisturising film is like for this Emulsifying scrub! It could be a treat in drying months (like NOW) as lazy creature like me often wish to skip the extra step of body moisturiser. For the first time using it, I'd say it is not drying. I feel like the sugar disappears quite soon. I would prefer to have them sit longer and scrub longer.
The smokiness does linger on, after my shower, after I put on another light-scented body moisturiser, until I go to bed!
Vice Soft Bubbling Scrub (US$8 for 6oz)
Fragrace - Steam billows rolling off a vessel of fresh made Turkish coffee, marshmallow goo tainted by graham cracker crumbs, toasted hazelnuts and blanketed in black chocolate.
The shop mis-sent a 2oz pot to me, I have emailed them asking for a follow-up. I thought it would be sweeter, with the marshmallow and sweet cracker taste in mind. It is actually on the bitter side, to me the java and BLACK choco scents is more noticeable. Still figuring out whether I like this fragrance, and whether I'd like it in a soap (as in bubbling scrub) or a cream (butter or lotion).
Depravity Soft Bubbling Scrub (US$3.5 for 2oz)
Fragrance - Pure corruption: clove, nutmeg lurk amongst the sweetest offerings of coconut, on a bed of rich golden amber, laden with dustings of sandalwood and spilled wine.
Haven't tried this just yet, but the scent does differ from what I thought it would be.
HEX Perfume Oil (complimentary gift)
Fragrance - You've been bewitched! Brackish amber, aged vanilla bean and three dark fruits, veiled in darkness and otherworldly secrecy.
This actually smells adorable! Not as 'overly sweet' as some says! Perhaps I can get more products in this
flavour fragrance! I can smell cherry (reminds me of the syrup medicine you drink as a kid) and some other fruits. Somehow it also reminds me of fruity chewing gum...
I will continue using these items until I form a good like/dislike opinion! Are there any scents from HoG that I must try next round? Or do you recommend other small fragranted body/bath company like this (or lunableu) for me to look up?
