Swap with missmolles - Italy!

(warning again - pic heavy, but no swatches, oops) - here you go, Evi - my Italian Swap!

A lady called Cristina (youtube: missmolles) contacted me on youtube and ask for a swap.  Basically she asked for false lashes and other Asian items - and because I have never done a beauty swap with Italian products - of course I said "YES"!

It took nearly 3 weeks for our parcels to reach the other side.  But it's definitely worth it!  I got tons of everything - from skin care to make up, nails to hair brush, even a whitening tooth paste!

Brands include essence, Kiko, Catrice, etc. and before I go into the beauty products, may I just show off how sweet Cris was??? She sent me two big bags of sweets!!! Finally something that I can share with my family and friends! :P

✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

So let's begin with the Essence products.  It is a very common drugstore brand in Europe; a while ago when my parents went to Germany, mum hauled back a big lot of Essence for me (as well as catrice and dr. hauschka, that's another story).  I heard that you can find it in US and Taiwan now too - but not yet in Hong Kong...

Above you can see 2 cream eyeshadow stay all day long lasting eyeshadow, a powder eyeshadow, 2 metallic eye pencil, 1 pink lipstick and 2 stay with me lipgloss.  The cream eyeshadow I have swatched here, the rest I haven't take swatches... But I wore the lip products out and I love them all!! really nice stuff!!

Last time my mum got me two huge dish of matte (or satin finish) bronzer, also from Essence Sun Club.  This time Cris sent me an all over shimmer shimmer-stripes-like bronzer/compact in blondes.  This is really high shine and pigmented, probably not the best bronzer but very good highlighter and eyeshadow!

Essence make a lot of different nail products!  I have only tried their small nail polish before (the green one in picture).  Here I got an express dry spray, pink nail art pen, french pre-glued nails, and baby milky pink nail polish pen.

I tried the nail polish pen (it is made in Japan - funny), but that doesn't show up at all, even with 2 layers.  The express dry spray is very interesting and does work.  On my nails today I have the green nail polish (colour called "choose me") and I LOVE it!!

Lastly from essence there's this super yummy hand cream vanilla apple pie 24h hand protection balm and (also super yummy) face cream-gel my skin lime n cucumber mositurizing cream-gel.  Both I love and I even put the face cream into my rotation, although I really think it is more a summer moisturizer for my skin type :P

✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

Next up we have KIKO brand.  I first heard about this from a youtuber, and when Cris asked if I want anything from their website, I chose quite a few.  and I love everything Cris finally picked up!!  In case you're wondering, actually most mineralize/baked make up from big department store brands or MAC or even Milani, came from Italy, I don't know how many factories are there, but basically Italy is the mother of all baked make up!!! ((okay, maybe except bourjois/chanel are from France?))

There is 1 colour sphere single baked shadow, 1 colour sphere duo eyeshadow, 1 limited edition blush, 2 loose pigment (fluo and taupe), and 1 face powder.  Doesn't the face powder look so much like MAC MSFN? :P

✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

Honestly, I am a little bit sad when I only find 1 Catrice eyeshadow in the box - I wish there were more!!!!!...  It is a very beautiful shimmery pink and don't you think this looks similar to Shu Uemura's offering?  The finish is super shiny and gives good colour pay-off.  Should have illustrated with a swatch but um... maybe next time :P

✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

The Copper Red nail polish from ASTRA is stunning - I need to show you guys a NOTD with that - remind me if you want to see that!  the other 4 items are from unknown brands, probably ^OST?? XD There are 1 purple eyeshadow, 1 pink blush, 1 brown liner and 1 black glitter liner.  Haven't been playing with them much so I don't have much 'opinion' on them :P

 ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

Some items from Gioia, probably this link (but inactive link!).  The 6-eyeshadow palette is beautiful - I swatched it and I love it!   Concealer stick is fine, lipstick is good, but the matching red polish seems to be so-so.  Haven't touched the blue/purple polish and eyeliner yet :P

 ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

A big facial toner from Venus, a  Leocrema body lotion (lovely, soft and mositurizing - I checked the ingredients are okay and gave it to boyfriend as he has really naughty skin), a few samples including Sephora body butter (LOVE!!), L'Occitane Shampoo, Sole de mediterraneo After Sun.

✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

Finally, a whitening toothpaste which I am already half-done with (good stuff!).  Green jewelled hair clips and a mini hair brush - which are both handy and lovely, probably will accompany me for my next holiday - no idea when that will be though :(...

✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

So here you are, my Italian swap.  :D  Feel free to leave your questions or request below - I may just get around to do them for you next!

Cheers :D

  2. Thank you Jacq! I enjoyed this post to bits!!! xx

2012 is going to be an Essence year for me! I finally tracked down a counter in my country so I'm definitely be getting some of their products! Sadly we don't have Kiko or Catrice... You're so right about the "made in Italy" remark on all baked powder products! It must be one factory that provides all companies, I think... Same goes with Germany and the "new generation" lip/eye pencils (the ones with the plastic end to stop the product from oxidizing), there must be this single factory that provides such pencils to a huge array of brands ranging from cheap to high-end... Have you read these articles? They're quite an interesting read!
