Short Review: Naruko Derma Pro Multi-Peptide Firming Serum

I got the small travel size sample of this with my order back in Nov'11.  I only gave this a few weeks of tries so I can't give a full in-depth review.

Derma Pro is a relatively new line released by Naruko, targetting semi-mature skin with more 'dermatologist' approved packaging.  I feel like it aims at the market of customers who value the 'technology' concept more than the 'organic' claims.

Let me quickly quote description from the Naruko US website:

Product Detail:

NARUKO Derma Pro Multi-Peptide Firming Serum is an anti-aging formula formulated with multiple peptides that firm, tighten, and improve the skin’s elasticity. The pure serum penetrates into the skin instantly, which quickens the absorption process. The Firming Serum protects the skin from harmful, aging environmental elements, balances the water-oil level, and completely nourishes the skin. It is an all-in-one serum for beautiful, youthful skin.

Best For:

All skin types, especially for mature skin showing signs of aging.

Application:

Use the applicator to dispense a dime-sized amount of the serum onto your hand and spread it evenly onto your face. Use fingertips to gently massage until the serum is fully absorbed. Follow with appropriate eye and facial cream.

Ingredients:

Purified Water (Aqua), Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Acetyl Octapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Alaria Esculenta Extract, Niacinamide, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Natto Gum, Allantoin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Propanediol, Polysorbate 20, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Steareth 20, Carbomer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol

This gentle, ecofriendly product is made without parabens, preservatives, artificial ingredients or coloring.  The product is cruelty free and is not tested on animals.

My Opinion:

firm, tighten, and improve the skin’s elasticity - Okay, not enough time to see significant change

penetrates into the skin instantly - Generally agree

balances the water-oil level - I am oil and water inadequate skin, this serum didn't add much moisture nor oil to my skin, hence this is a fail.

I like the texture, it is a medium to thin clear gel texture, no special scent (a minimal scent of alcohol perhaps).  Pretty quickly-absorbed into the skin and other products can be layered on it, without crumbling up.

Overall:

PRODUCT : 3/5
TEXTURE : 3/5
APPLICATION : 3/5
PACKAGING : 3/5 ((the real one comes with a dropper design which I'm just okay with))
I got this free with purchase so I can't grade on the price, but from my research this is quite price-y (in Naruko standard).  With a score of 12/20, I think this is a skip-able, but nice to try, product from Naruko.  Personally I won't repurchase either - mainly because there are so many better serums, or Naruko serums to try from!

    1. Hehe, nothing compares to my Naruko serums. (I'm so biased!) I will do review on the other Naruko serums soon, keep an eye out for those. By the way, you can try Kiehl's Midnight recovery, I'm on my 1st sample and it may work for you, basically an oil serum, could work for your dry skin~!

      cheers :)
