Inventory#9: Face Primer/ Make Up Base

Yay!  Finally going to do inventory check on my make up stash, starting with Make Up Primers!  (I treat my MAC Stash a brand inventory, instead of 'per category')  Before you read on, just wanna remind you, up there in my 'Pages' there's a tab for "Inventory/My Stash" where I list all of my inventory posts.  Go take a look if you're interested!

I don't use primers every time I do make up, and honestly, I don't wear face make up everyday.  However, whenever I do proper make up, e.g. for dinner, photo-taking, parties, etc, I usu. try to apply a layer of base before I do my foundation.  And in general, I like my moisturising primers more than silicon-y smooth-out-pore kind of primers.  Anyway, here they are:

Integrate Mineral Make Up Base (+1)
L'egere Platinum Hologram Illuminating Hydro Cream Base 1 in use
Beauty Credit Lovely Q10 Pearl Shine Make Up Base 1 in use
Make Up Forever HD Primer, #6 1 in use
Love Labo (美肌一族) "silicon pore perfecting primer" 1 in use
Cover Girl n Olay Simply Ageless (+1)
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind (+1)

Out of this bunch, my current favourite is the L'egere one.  It is moisturising and give skin a nice sheen, also helps the next product to adhere better and stay longer.  The Beauty Credit has similar effect but a slightly more pearly finish - handy when skin needs that extra glow.  MUFE HD is a free gift with magazine subscription, and it is definitely too dark for me to use.  Not too fond of the Love Labo one.

Za Pore Smoother 1 in use
MeMeMe Seventh Heaven (+1)
Guerlain Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold 1 in use
Hera HD Make Up Base (+1)
Estee Lauder Idealist Minimizing Skin Refinisher 1 in use
Sana Pore Putty Make Up Base (+1)

Za is an interesting silicon filler for pores, effective when I want to perfect mine around the cheeks.  Guerlain is my favourite, reviewed here and probably will repurchase.  Estee Lauder Idealist is indeed a skin care instead of primer, but the silicon feeling it gives make me not like to use it as a usual skin care so I put it here.

Kose Sekkisei Supreme Makeup Base (sample +2)
Maybelline The Smoother (sample +1)
Missha M BB Boomer (sample +2)

After these pictures were taken, I found 1 extra BB Boomer hiding in another drawer... I think the Maybelline The Smoother is similar to the Za above, and the 'quite-famous' L'Oreal Studio secrets one (smoothing resurfacing primer).

I have also tried Coffret D'or or Esprique de Kose primers that I like but I didn't repurchase.  After all, I don't use them regularly and this big stash of mine can last me a good while.

Dear reader friends, do you use foundation primers and why?  Do you have a favourite one?  :P

Cheers :D

  1. I use primer sometimes. I use it to hide my pores.

  3. I've gotten into the habit of using a primer and i love how it makes the skin smoother and helps with pores. I've tried MAC and Revlon, might try the Za one next! x

  4. Wow, this is a lot of primers for someone who doesn't use it every day. (Like me and eye shadows. :)) I just finished my Hourglass Veil Mineral and will be repurchasing that. It's just the best.

    1. Hi Liz, thanks for coming and commenting! Hourglass sounds so good from the reviews I read - looks like they make amazing eyeshadow, face products and everything :( Too bad they are not readily available in my city.

  5. I use primer daily but for completely different reasons to you (I need polyfiller for pores and superglue to keep my foundation on my oily nose :p)

    1. I guess this is why different products are created/marketed for diff needs! For most days - 300 out of 365 days - my nose is flaking off, either on the sides or on the tip - because I rub it with tissue too often, or maybe coz I'm just too lack of oil/moisture?? :S

      ^.^
