Review: Naruko Raw Job's Tears Serum

Yay, so here I am, reviewing my 4th Naruko Serum.  I am a huge huge fan of Naruko Skin Care, in case you don't know already, and in 2012 I'll hopefully be reviewing every Naruko product I used!

Full name of this serum is Naruko Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Whitening Serum.  Don't mix up Raw Job's Tears with the older Job's Tears line, the Raw JT line is in Red packaging (think red rice as the raw rice), and the old JT line is in white/purple packaging (think white rice).  As usual, please visit the official sites for more info, I found English description on the Singapore site and the US site.

Quote from US Site:

Product Detail:
NARUKO Raw Job's Tears Supercritical CO2 Whitening Serum combines concentrated whitening and comprehensive repairing benefits to form a dual-purpose protective mechanism to defend healthy skin. Raw Job's Tears extract helps whiten, moisturize, revitalize, soothe skin while providing antioxidants. Tranexamic Acid to eliminate and to prevent melanin formation dark spots on the skin. Salicyloyl Phytosphingosine maintains healthy skin.  The serum is formulated with Raw Job’s Tears oil extract, Glucono Lactone, Salicyloyl Phytosphingosine, and collagen. These ingredients work together to promote healthy skin by providing antioxidants to the skin, improving the skin’s metabolism, and maintaining the skin’s health.

Best For:
All skin types, especially sensitive and oily skin types and skin that is sunburnt or has freckles, dark spots, or uneven skin tone.

Application:
After using toner and milky lotion, pump the bottle 2 times and spread the serum evenly onto face. Massage thoroughly to help absorbance.

How to massage:
Step 1: Use after your night time skincare products. Pump out a dime-sized amount of the serum and spread evenly onto face (forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose). Use your fingertips to massage thoroughly.
Step 2: For dark spots and trouble areas, massage more for increased effectiveness.
Step 3: Rub your palms together until they are warm. Use your palms to gently press against your forehead, chin, cheeks, and the sides your nose. Press each area for 3-5 minutes.

*Recommendation:
When massaging, please remember to close your eyes and breathe deeply to smell the scent of the essential oils. Wash your face with lukewarm water the following morning.

The pics above show 1 pump - 2 pumps - 3 pumps from top to bottom.

My Opinion:

PRODUCT : 5/5
TEXTURE : 4/5
APPLICATION : 5/5
PACKAGING : 5/5
PRICE: 4/5 - very very reasonable if ordered from Taiwan ;)

I like this serum a lot.  I usually use 2 to 3 pumps depending on how many other serums I'm layering on that day.  This comes in the newer pump dispenser which is the biggest improvement from the old packaging.  The gorgeous red design of this line is definitely very attractive.

Texture of it is a slightly lotion kind of oil, or a thinner type of gel-lotion.  Very smooth to apply and quick to absorb.  As it is slightly oil-like in consistency, I find it quite hydrating (or emollient) in fact!  Not heavy so I'd have to agree with the 'suitable for oily skin' claim.

As for the whitening part - which is the purpose of using this treatment - I'd say it is decent!  Didn't remove my few freckles/sun spots miraculously but it did help to fade them, and some scars, a little.  Also helped to brighten up my overall complexion a lot, which I love.  Now my face is obviously a few shades lighter than my neck... Note to self: need more exfoliation on neck and apply moisturiser.

Minor drawback:

Apparently, not all Naruko products smell good.  The RJT serum doesn't carry the same nice scent as the Masks, for example.  It has no particular smell so the 'essential oils' claimed in the (English) website description doesn't apply to this particular serum.  Turn-off for me, but could be something others would love.

Conclusion:

Overall Rating: 23/25
Recommend?  Yes!  If you need help with whitening/brightening and love product that is fragrance-free/scent-free~~
Repurchase?  Not before I use up my back-ups!  I love my skin care to smell lovely, and I have other favourites from Naruko - which I will share, eventually.  Hehe.

  2. I love Asian serums! The only thing I have to be careful of is too much alcohol. I'm loving the Labo Labo Hyaluronic Acid serum!

    1. I see I see - Labo Labo the sub-brand of Dr Ci Labo! Haven't tried that, should be a rather basic moisturising serum right? hehe. I also avoid alcoholic skin care - my skin is just too dry for that! ;)

  3. Thanks for the review! Now it clears my doubt that the Job Tears is actually being replaced by Raw Job Tear as I was having a hard time searching for Naruko Job Tear.

    1. You're welcome! I'm not sure of the previous Job's Tears line and whether this is a replacement, because that is no longer available when I started using Naruko!

Hope my review is really of some use for you!

      cheers~~~~~~~

  4. Would you recommend Naruko Raw Job's Ztears line over the Lavender line for hydrating and whitening. My skin is very sensitive. I also wanted to try Dr. Wu. Have you used that product line before? If so what is your feedback on that? Thanks, Vivian

    1. Hi Vivian, Thanks for your question~ Personally I have not tried the Lavender line, as Lavender is not my favourite scents. For whitening I recommend this RJT one for sure. This Raw Job's Tears is basically scentless, I find it very nice even when skin is sensitive or acting naughty!

For Dr Wu, I am enjoying the 'extra hydrating lotion with aqua-collagen' as an extra moisturiser (under my normal day/night cream) and it is really good. I did buy some other Dr Wu stuff but haven't gone around using yet. Will review them when time comes~

      Cheers,
      Jacq
