Swap with Rukia from UK feat. Phyto, Liz Earle and many skin care!

A while back, Rukia, a UK friend of my previous swap buddy Sam contacted me and started a discussion on exchanging some beauty items.  After a dozens of back-n-forth emails or so, here the package is!  If you want to see everything I got in this international swap, then please read on!

I'll start off with the make up products because I actually made some rough swatches with them this time.  I'm so thrilled to get a Nars cream eyeshadow in Cosmic Girl, a beautiful yellow gold, and an OCC Lip Tar in Trick, a very wearble nude, slightly peachy but natural and gorgeous!  This is my first time getting Nars cream eyeshadow and OCC lip tar, so excited to give these a try!

Next, some Rimmel products that I actually asked for.  After reading Laura and Gemsmaquillage's reviews on the wake me up foundation, I figure this could be something I like and wanted to give it a try, so I requested the Wake me Up in 100 Ivory.  The Glam'Eyes HD quad eyeshadows are so beautiful - I opted for the most Brit colour choice - 008 True Union Jack.  Rukia also thrown in a Metallic Eye Gloss in Soho, a soft shimmery pink.

The Body Shop Brilliance Powder, is a loose bronzing powder with built-in synthetic face brush - not sure of the shade as it isn't written on the tube.  From 1st impression, it is a little messy, too bronze and shimmery for me to use.  If anyone one have tips to using it, please tell me in comments below!  (new packaging on UK website link)

I got a Sleek Eye Dust in Dirty which I already got.  Oops.  The shade is a more than stunning dark brown with a metallic sheen.  Very pigmented, very smooth and gorgeous.  I swatched the Kiko Special Effect Duo Baked Eyeshadow in 01 Earth and Sun dry in the pics above, very shimmery, very eye-catching and pretty.  I love neutrals and bronzes eyeshadows and this is definitely my 'cup of tea'!

Next there are some bits and pieces from MUA, the superdrug brand.  I already swapped away the lipgloss in shade 5 because I have other similar pink glosses.  The blusher in shade 2 is pretty, a light to medium neutral pink that should flatter my skin tone a lot.  :")  Lipsticks in Shade 3 and Shade 11 are a bright fuschia rose and a slightly darker orange brown.  Both look pretty and I'd give them a try!

Finally there are 3 items from Boots 17 line.  I wanted a Spring Fling lilac palette after seeing the pictures and swatches here.  However, sadly, mine came in shattered.  I have transferred the content to a clear jar - now that it's shattered and all shades mixed up, I can still get a decently pretty lilac-y rose bronze colour out of it - and I'll see what can I do with it later.  The Photo Flawless primer is a silicony gel that falls into that pore-filler category.  I tried it on my hands and it looked smooth and great, will try it facially soon.  The Instant Glow Shimmer Brick in Pink Bronze is very very shimmery - pretty indeed but I can hardly use it as bronzer.  Used the top 2 shades as eyeshadow once and work okay - maybe I can also use this shimmer brick as highlighter?

Nail Polishes:
= Rimmel 60 seconds in Blue Me Away
= RImmel I <3 Lasting Finish in Magenta Magic
= 17 Fast Finish in Peacock
= No7 Stay Perfect in Minty Fresh and Perky
= MUA in shade 3

Next up, I have got some skin care!  I am a skin care junkie and I love love love trying out new stuff.  Rukia got me a Liz Earle Cleanse n Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser set which comes with a new Muslin Cloth.  It has so many positive reviews and I have been eyeing it for so long - will give it some good uses and report soon.

Then there are 5 packets of Talika Lash Conditioning Cleanser.  Used one already.

Review: t is a milky blue light gel - I used it with a cotton pad to remove my eye make up but sadly, my bad or its, it stings my eyes like hell!  :S

From Alpha H, an Australian brand, there are 2 Balancing Cleanser with Aloe Vera, 2 Triple Action Cleanser with Aloe Vera, 2 Liquid Gold Intensive Night Repair Serum, 2 Balancing Moisturiser with Gentle Exfoliant and 1 Gentle Daily Exfoliant.  When I opened the package with a cutter, I accidentally cut open the gentle daily exfoliant, which is a powder, and hence immediately went to the sink and use it on my face.

Review:  After face wash, I mixed this powder, which is Kaolin based, with water, turn it into a thin paste, and rub it onto my face and neck.  Besides the kaolin powder, there are some slightly larger particles in the mixture, so during the rubbing, it really gently exfoliates.  Too gentle and only 1 trial to tell the difference, but interesting none the less!

Priori is a brand focusing on anti-aging (link here).  Looks like it is founded by some real hardcore skin care scientist and developed with very good ingredients, e.g. AHA and CoffeeBerry - I shall study them in more depth in the future.  Anyway, I have got the following from 3 different lines:

Advanced AHA Cosmeceuticals - 3x Barrier Repair Complex, 1x Perfection Facial Gel, 2x Gentle Facial Cleanser, 2x Skin Renewal Cream
DNA Enzyme Complex Target Skin Therapy - 3x Cellular Recovery Serum
CoffeeBerry Natureceuticals - 3x Day Complex, 3x Revitalizing Cleanser

Review:  Tried 2 packs of the CoffeeBerry revitalizing cleanser.  It is a brown gel, doesn't foam up much, smells of something edible (not coffee nor berry though).  Give a gentle cleanse to the face and quite soothing.  Didn't perform miracle but seem to leave my skin soft and supple.

Finally!  I asked for more Soap and Glory travel sizes products because I love them - see what I got in my previous swap here.  Above are: Scrub of Your Life body scrub, Daily Smooth body butter, and Flake Away body scrub.

Rukia kindly threw in a Body Shop facial brush for cleansing, it is cute and small and would be handy if I want something alternative to my Clarisonic Mia.  :)

For hair treats, there are:

Rahua - Shampoo and Conditioner samples
Phyto PhytoKeratine (for weakened, damaged hair) - 2x reparative conditioner treatment, 3x reparative serum for damaged ends
Phyto PhytoIntense (for severe dandruff itchiness) - 1x anti-dandruff treatment shampoo
Phyto PhytoCitrus (for colour treated hair) - 3x restructuring mask
Phyto PhytoJoba (for dry hair) - 3x intense hydrating mask

All in all, I am really really happy with what I received this time, Rukia, and I hope you like the things I sent too!

Last but not least, Happy Easter - for those who celebrate it!  I have a important happy news to share with you guys: my boyfriend was baptised this Easter Vigil, along with about 3,000 adults all around Hong Kong.  It was an amazing experience.  As some of you may know, I'm born Catholic, meaning I was baptised around 1 year old and had no memory whatsoever about that.  If anything, witnessing my man's conversion is an Amazing Grace itself.  He has been through so much in his life, lost and learnt so much, and he finally found home in God.  Baptism is just a beginning and from now on, there's an even a longer way to learn, live and love!

  2. oh wow what a brilliant swap. I love the eyeshadows the brown ones and so happy you have a liz earle. I really want to see your review because I absolutely love it. I have the same No7 nail polish, I think they really are good for drugstore brands. MUA lipsticks remind me of the Revlon Lip butters for some strange reason just not as moisturising.

    1. Hi Sam, yes, an amazing swap, Rukia is so sweet! Although she didn't find the Sleek 3 blush palettes :S I'm liking most things I have tried - not yet tried the Liz Earle yet though. MUA lipsticks are decent - I just don't wear bright lip colours daily to test them out enough yet. I love the No7 nail polishes - see my NOTD in the post after this one!
