A review of the Naruko Narcissus Total Defense Brightening (Night) Serum and ampm skin ecological complex.
My favourite serum Naruko has ever produced (that I have tried) is their Narcissus Fundamental Serum, which they have
I have basically bought every single serums Naruko produces, even venturing into the ampm line they make... And here I'm going to review and compare 2 serums to my fav. Narcissus Fundamental serums.
1 - Naruko Narcissus Total Defense Night Brightening Serum - for a short period of time, this co-existed with the Fundamental serum. (Chinese homepage) (US homepage)
It has the new and better pump design. It has the very adorable fresh narcissus scent - same as the others from the narcissus line. However, despite the scent, it is nothing similar to the fundamental serum. It is more creamy, instead of fluidy, in terms of a lotion. It is semi-opague white, instead of clear lotion. Definitely more firm and less runny than the 'Fundamental'. I enjoy using this as a night time mositurise and brightening 2-in-1 purpose serum, which I apply after a 'Fundamental' kind of serum.
Is it good? Yes, I will consider repurchasing this as I love the scent, the moistrising properties and probably the brightening effect (need to observe longer).
Can it replace the Fundamental Serum? No. I feel like they're totally different kind of things!
2 - Naruko Narcissus Total Defense Fundamental Serum - I have written a full review all on its own. Bascially the best 1st-step serum to prep skin for anything else. Smell and applies like a dream.
3 - AMPM Indoor Ecological Complex - ampm is another line/sub-brand by the same Naruko company, also developed by Niu-er. ampm targeted more at Office-Lady or skin that faces pollution/stress/city life. (Chinese homepage) (there is no such item on the US website!?)
This serum comes in a lovely dropper bottle like eyedrops. Not the best design either, as out of the two I bought, one bottle leaked in its paper box packaging. :(
This product claims to do a lot of things, much like a miracle serum. The website says it adds vitality, adds mositure, prevents wrinkles, stimulates collagen production, firms, strengthens, encourages absorption. Wow. My verdict is, it does help to keep my skin condition alright, but I don't see significant improvement. The texture is kind of thin, hence slightly tricky to control the amount and application. (I can understand why they use a dropper, this is smart for something as water-like!)
Is it good? Yes, I love its texture, layerability and mult-purpose. It leaves skin 'sticky' afterwards, not an issue as I will follow up with other skincare, but may not be desired by some others.
Can it replace the Fundamental Serum? Almost. This is more runny itself, but leaves skin a slight sticky feel (fundamental does not). It smells very faintly of something herbal, but definitely not the beautiful Narcissus line blend.
I enjoy using both right now, but neither is comparable to the Fundamental Serum. HOW CAN THEY HAVE DISCONTINUED THAT!
