November Aquisition | No-Buy Fail

Aside from some crazy online shopping (Sleek, MUA, Beauty Bay, Cinema Ready Cosmetics, Skindinavia, Glamabox, Shiro Cosmetics) mainly due to promotional codes and the Black Friday sales, I have made some local purchases over the month.  Not intentional.  But for the most part, as usual, I do not regret for what I have spent.  You can see my 6 new Burberry eye shadow palettes in another post - link.  The rest of my 'haul' will be featured in this blog.

Let's start in chronological order~  Price quoted below are all in Hong Kong Dollar.

I paid for four items at Clinique and everything else are free.  As I have reached the gift with purchase benchmark, all the items in the picture below came free in the floral make up pouch.

Clinique, Repairwear Uplifting Firming Cream (for dry combination to combination oily) (15ml)
Clinique, Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle and Photo Damage Corrector (7ml)

Clinique, Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (7ml)
Clinique, Cream Shaper for Eyes #101 Black Diamond

Boots products used to be sold partially in the two biggest local pharmacies (Watson's and Mannings).  Recently, Mannings quite high-profile-ly launch a few product lines of Boots into selective outlets.  I managed to visit two of the stores, and picked up a few of their products with some in-store discounts.  The two travel/trial sets are gift with purchases (any 2 of more items, and over $149).  The Champneys products are buy 2 get 1 (or 3 for 2, depending on how you call it).  There are also $20 dollars off coupons flying around (I used two, meaning $40 off), and Mannings own $50 off skin care vouchers.
Things I have started using and enjoy so far: Tea Tree Spot Wand, Botanics Eye Make Up Remover, Champneys Skin Comforting Body Butter.

Every month there's some Sasa member promotion.  This month with my points, I got a free micellar cleansing water, and redeeming my points, I also got the other two deluxe samples at very low prices.

Elizabeth Arden, Ceramide Capsules (7 capsules, total 3.2ml, $19, Made in Italy)
Collistar, Cleansing Make-Up Remover Micellar Water (50ml, free, Made in Italy)
Nuxe, Reve de Miel Face Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel (Dry and Sensitive Skin) (15ml, $10, Made in France)
Dr. G, Expert Root Whitening Care set (White Aura Skin Lotion, 30ml) (White Aura Serum, 10ml) (White Aura Cream, 15ml) ($28, Made in Korea) *I got four sets.
Sasatinnie, Snail Renewing Face Mask (20g x 10 pieces, $30) I got two boxes of these, used and reviewed here - link.  Nice stuff, I must say!

Sasa (again)
I was bored  the other day, while I was once again waiting my fiancé's arrival at the pier's arrival hall.  As usual, I popped into a Sasa and spent time browsing, swatching, loitering really.  At the end, these few bits were brought to the cashier and purchased.

SHL Eyelashes #T13 and #T02 - T13 is long, flirty, criss-cross style.  T02 is straight long and a little more defining and natural-looking.  Both have a black band and quite voluminous.  (HKD$29 for 5 pairs each)
Kanebo Media, Creamy Lasting Lip A #DR-3 - I am totally on a dark lip flu right now.  This is a dark red - probably the reason for coding DR? - that looks almost vampy.  Can't wait to wear it and take some pictures for blog~  (HKD$67 for 3g)

Nail Salon
The nail salon I visited for a manicure trial, and complimentary hand treatment, is selling the Intelligent Nutrients (IN) line of natural/organic hair products.  IN is founded by the father of Aveda.  This bottle (or perhaps most/all of their products) is made in USA.  I have very sleek fine flat hair so I got myself a bottle of Volumizing Spray.  It costs $120 for 60ml of products, not too expensive, but I need to use it more to see if it worths the price tag.

A night out with my uni friends gave me excuses to visit the Tsim Sha Tsui area where my favourite big Sasa branch is located.  I picked up two Revlon lipsticks that just hit the store, and a new shade of the La Suffren Matte Lipliner.  Then afterwards I popped into a Bonjour, and saw these little loose powder pot lying around, they're so lovely I had to get them!  There is a third colour which is too dard and I didn't want to buy 'too much' so I put that back down - I call this self-control...

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick #725 Love That Red (Creme) #440 Cherries In The Snow (Creme) ($59, 4.2g)
La Suffren Matte Lipliner #862L ($12, Made in Germany)
Shiseido the Makeup, Enriched Loose Powder ($58, Made in USA)
Shiseido the Makeup, Loose Powder #1 Pink Rose ($58, 9g, Made in USA)

I was collecting some Mannings stamps (like your Boots points or loyalty points), in order to redeem a warm thick blanket - excuses.  So I went ahead and procured loads of toothpastes, snacks, and a few pieces of skin care and hair care.

Dr. Morita, Hyaluronic Acid Facial Mask ($19.9 for 5pcs)
Marc Anthony, Instantly Thick Full Blow Out Lotion ($99 for 245ml, Made in Australia)
Mannings Annecy, Repairing HA+ Rose Hip Oil Facial Mask ($39.9 for 6pc)

I received a booklet of coupons which at the same time is a Christmas shopping guide.  Inside I find the one and only item I wanted to try, i.e. the new Koji Brow Specialist.  I haven't dyed my hair in months so I went ahead and got the neutral medium brown shade.  There is also a more red (pink brown?) and a blond colour (gold brown?).

Pupa, Hot Tropics Diamond Eyeshadow #01 #02 #04 ($74, 3.5g) *I didn't buy 03 which is a teal colour.  Nikkie from NikkieTutorials compared this to MAC extra dimension skin finish - link.
Koji, Brow Specialist Eyebrow Mascara #Soft Brown ($79 -$5 with a coupon)

Beautiful wishes,

Lazy silly Jacq :")

  1. Awww I always fail my no buys too! Everytime I embark on one, something that I've been wanting for a while will go on sale haha

  2. can I mention I envy the fact you make all my shopping trips look miniature and pointless. You must have a storage closet for all your skincare and makeup, forget clothes!

    1. :) but honestly, the fact is, I rarely ever buy clothing or accessories. all the $$ are spent on beauty...

  3. which manning stores did you go to? I tried so hard finding the Beautifully skin range but failed :(

    1. I have visited two personally, Cambridge House (Quarry Bay) and President Theatre (Causeway Bay). Boots is also sold in Hysan Place, Hang Lung Centre (Causeway Bay). IFC, Regent Centre (Central). Elements (Kowloon) and New Town Plaza (Sha Tin).

      Hope it helps :)

  4. I totally agree with Sam! I'm so envious and and in love (like the emojicon face with the heart shaped eyes lol!) everytime I visit you blog! I love it! :-) I love the Clinique Take the Day off Cleansing Balm! My skin is superdry so its a nice way for me to remove makeup giving a little moisture. I just bought the Botanics makeup remover too...just used it a couple times but it seems good! :-)

    1. i haven't started using the clinique balm, but you make me feel like i have made a correct purchase! i have super dry skin too. i wonder how it can happen as we have real humid weather here all year round... i really enjoy the botanics eye make up remover too! :D
