Glamabox Review | December'12, DIY and Bridal Box

I am going to talk about 3 Glamaboxes in 1 post today, excited?  I am!  Around early November, Glamabox sent us an email promoting their DIY boxes, it was a limited edition event where I can pick certain full size and travel size products and basically do-it-yourself a Glamabox!  In order to get free shipping, I went ahead and try out their Bridal Box too, which is a collab with Darizi (a wedding website).  These boxes came on the same day as my December monthly subscription so I figure I will just throw them all into the same post!

I'll began with the December Box - then DIY Box - then the Bridal Box.

December 2012 Box

Makeup: Hurray for a full size Revlon foundation, which matches my skin tone, which also is something I have wanted to try for a long long time!  Ever since this airbrush mousse came out, I have played with it multiple times at the Revlon stands, you do not know how excited I am to get this in one of the Glamaboxes!  Shade No.09 is a special colour designed for East Asians, has a light yellow tone with quite noticeable shimmers.  I will definitely play with it more and do some fotd or even review on it.

Skincare: I always love some sheet masks so the two sheet masks from b.liv and Fleur de Beaute are thumbs up for me.  An interesting item from Mask House, on the other hand, really caught my eye.  It is an eye serum with bee venom extract that is marketed as an all-round eye treatment.  It feels silky, almost a bit silicon-filler-ish on the skin.  I used this as my day eye cream under make up and it works fine.

Non-beauty: This month there are two non-beauty items, which, surprisingly (there's a lot of surprises in this box) didn't disappoint!  The congee from IDO made nice quick snacks when weather is cold and I want some filling hot food.  I have tried the curry flavour and vegetable pork, and surprisingly, the vegetable one is my favourite.  The U-shape self-heating patch is like hand-warmer, but with sticker to attach to the shoulder area on a shirt, not on the skin.  I do not have back pain or tense muscle but this is a joy to use when the temperature remains low in the day time.

Overall: Hurray!  Given that I have paid an average of $99 per box, this is definitely one that surprised me and made my month very happy.  By the way, I am so in love with the fun red holiday-inspired box too, it is really really sturdy and I love to keep it as storage use.

Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup 09 Natural Ochre ($168/1.4oz)
IDO Burner Light (Seafood Congee/ Vegetable Pork Congee/ Light Curry Chicken Congee) ($140 for box of 5) 3 packs = $84

For $88, we got to pick different things from different categories, and then Glamabox threw in an extra hand cream!  Personally I think the key item I picked, the Rose water, is worth the cost itself.  Yet I am also allowed to pick the rest of the samples too, how excited??  I haven't exactly start using the stuff, hence I'll just go through the list.  All in all, I'm super happy Glamabox introduced this DIY concept as we can really pick what we want to try, have a habit to use, and Glamabox can clear out some stock too, I suppose~

Bridal Box

As I mentioned earlier in this post, I ordered this mainly to qualify for free shipping.  This box has quite a few well-selected mini products, which, I'm afraid, if a bride-to-be is really interested, would have to go out and buy the full-size herself.

The only thing I have used thus far is the hand cream, which is quite smooth and smells okay (has a significant jasmine scent), but doesn't moisturise my hands enough in this extreme Winter.  I am also very eager to try the Organix shampoo, which I have been wanting for a while.  The rest, again, I will report back once I have tested them out!
