Review | Garnier BB Eye Roll-on

Full name of this product in Hong Kong is Garnier BB Eye Roll-on.

This is not new!  I feel like it has been out forever.  I'm probably the last one on blog-world to give this a review.  It is that late that I guess Garnier is phasing this out from local pharmacies; I saw these on 50% off (both the eye roll-on and the bb cream) at Mannings for a few weeks.  Although it is now returned to original price, I'd say go grab it before it is gone!  I am seriously contemplating on whether I should get a back up... but when did I last finish a 15 ml concealer?

People are talking about this all over the world.  However, I think Garnier/L'Oreal named this product differently in different market.  So, although I am guessing the formula is nearly the same, I can't be sure.  Here I'm linking to a few other blogs which you may find useful: Sam (from UK - link), seven321 (from Taiwan - link, link), Anna/TheStyleDiet (from Ireland - video link), Sheryl/pincstuff (from Canada - video link).

Purchase, Price and Packaging

I was very interested to try this out, since it's been launched.  However, I restrained from purchasing because I saw that 'Alcohol Denat.' is high on the ingredient list.  Denatured or not, I'm not too sure I want to put alcohol so close to my eyeballs.  Therefore, I moved on and used other stuff.  Until recently, when my cousin commented on my empties, that this passion or curiosity was re-kindled.  I saw a nice set with this and the Garnier BB Cream, so I checked-out that Sasa with that in my basket.  I paid HK$149 for the set.

The tube is simple, sturdy and easy to carry around.  The roller ball top, though, can be a little bit messy.  After a few uses, there is product collected around the ball and cap.  That doesn't bother me, but may bother some of you.

Roll-On ingredients
My Review

I love this stuff.  The consistency is very thin, runny, and runs/blends almost like water.  The alcohol content holds the pigment and formula very well, it dispense the product very evenly and helps it dry down on skin nicely.  No, it is not drying as I afraid it was.  In fact, I find it pretty moisturising for my under eye area.  It stays on all day long and won't crease or fade.  Very impressive!

The light brightening colour of this roll on also illuminates my under eye area.  I find it adds a great glow without highlighting my bags or flaws.  Sometimes other highlighting pen can do that bad job!

Possible downside is, it only comes in one shade in our market, and it may not suit every single skin tone.  I find it pretty darn right for my NC10-25 fair to light yellow/neutral East Asian colouring (what a mouthful to describe my colour).

Conclusion

I regard this Holy Grail under eye concealer.  It covers without being too made up nor drying.  Not expensive and comes with a big amount of content.  Good value!  I highly recommend everyone to try this out.  :)

I will very much want to repurchase it, so Garnier, please do not dis-continue this any time soon!  I consider this a big fat Hurray product!

What is your favourite under eye concealer?  Have you tried any make up or skin care roller ball?  :D

    1. I don't think it is super pigmented, so it can be used on medium skin tone as a brightening concealer too.
However, I think for blue tone dark circles, it is better to have a significant yellow colour to counteract. Perhaps some sort of corrector? I do not have much blue hue under eye so I can't recommend you. :)

  2. I have been using this for probably a year ++ and I feel as though it will never run out! Thankfully I love it so that's not a problem.

    1. Really! There is only one option/variation here. You can do a comparison now that you have both! :D

  4. I have always tempted by the other version of the garnier eye roll-on
but I worry about the product collected around the ball and cap, that's why I haven't purchased it... yet

    1. It does collect a little bit. But I don't find it too bothersome personally. :)
I am tempted to try the other roll-ons too, there's one for problem skin/acne, one for dark circles and one for something eyes... I saw four types the other day.

    2. The bluish-green one for acne is good. The mint-green for hydrating eyes is like applying water, feels nothing. Haven't tried the yellow one for dark circles though.

I may get one of those blue-green for acne (Goris favourite, right?) but right now I have about half a dozen of acne solution (mainly tea tree oil...) to go through... hehe

    1. Thanks Jenni. I have light/medium dark circles, probably not super dark. So a lot of concealers give enough coverage to me. This only comes in one shade (downside), but I think it shall work on your skin tone.

  6. I'm actually the last person to review this - I don't even have it or tried yet. :)

I'm using a Rimmel that also works really well. Is it just me or are drugstore concealers much better than high-end when it comes to undereye??

    1. @Liz

It must be cheaper at your place than here, give it a try if you don't mind the slightly messy roller ball applicator.

I guess it is the expectation factor that cause the disappointment in higher end concealers, a lot of them work great, but not as wonderful as we wanted when they charge us for crazy price and a few ml of quantity!

  7. This catches my eye every time I am in a drugstore but I always thought it was gimicky... I will make sure to pick it up next time I see it on offer! haha
