The Week #7

Anna Sui #325
Period covered: 24 - 30 August

This week was, hmm, lazy.  The heat kept me from doing everything I planned to (excuse!), and my body was still recovering from the busy weekend which included a secondary school reunion (plenty of girl talks), delivering a session on Our Lady to a group of Catechumen, running up and down the Cathedral hill for meeting/  To recover, I went shopping for my wedding shoes (girlfriend G helped out with this one, a lot).

In between lazy weekdays, I managed to went in my facialist for a facial (just lay there and sleep basically), purchased 6 pairs of skinny jeans (yes you get the digit correct), bought home nearly a dozen of nail paints...

I'm planning on kicking off a new round of 100 Day Spending Ban in September, which will approximately end in early December - perfect timing to treat myself some presents for Christmas.  Details to come in next week's update!

Finished Fortnight #18 | Awesome August 長話短說

From this Finished Fortnight post onwards, I've decided that for deluxe or small size samples, unless they're particularly impressively good or bad, I'll just list them out and skip reviewing in depth.  Not that I'm previously discussing them in any particular length, but considering the quantity I'm covering, it is better to be concise - this way I can ensure myself to 'finish' each post to the schedule I desire... Moreover, it is not enough usages to firmly decide on a certain product with a small sample, don't you think so?

Thank you for your consideration! ;)

Sample Sunday #3 | Prime Mini(ster)s

... or, in the un-twisted form, mini face primers.

Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher - Just Jacq
Technically this is skin care, but it seems to work for me on the cheeks (pore issue area), before make up.  Doesn't have colour nor holds make up particularly well, but helped with the appearance of pores.  I use this like you would, with other silicony primers.  Plus, perhaps this really minimises pores in a long run?

Hera HD Make Up Base "Shade 60" - Joyeux Jacq
This is a creamy lotion kind of primer with a pale green tint.  Green is supposed to neutralise redness in skin.  I don't find this green too strong, which may create a ghostly cast, but natural enough to blend into my colouring.  The texture is great, too.

MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Enriched Moisturising Facebase - Just Jacq
Okay...  It is quite moisturising, but I am not a big fan of its citrus scent.  It is not offensive but a little cheap-smelling.

Paul and Joe Moisturizing Foundation Primer N "01" - Black Jacq
Moisturising, and gives skin a beautiful glow and finish.  It feels like high end skin care on the skin.  Honor - blog link! - gave me her full size bottle of another P and J primer.  Will report on that at a later time.

Laura Geller Tinted Under Make-Up Primer in Bronze - Joyeux Jacq
First of all, it is not very bronzing.  If you want a primer to slightly tan up your face or add some colour, this is not it.  Second, it has a gel texture, not the silicon-full powder-touch type, nor the creamy lotion kind, just a light hydrating gel almost.  I feel this works great under make up.

BlogLovinTwitter FacebookInstagram

I hope you find this short post helpful.  Some of my favourites are: Paul and Joe, Banila Co. (slightly silicony), Media (smooth and colour correcting), and Laura Mercier Hydrating (also feels like good skin care).

Have you encountered any good foundation primers?

Beautiful wishes,
Lazy silly Jacq :")

The Week #6

Period covered: 17 - 23 August

This week was hectic.  On one day my family, all adults, went to the Disney Resort Hotel for a buffet dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday.  The food was great, atmosphere fantastic, but most magical was the make up (surprise, I know!).  On the second day, I hauled Mr. A to sit down and properly discuss how we want our wedding invitations to be, still undecided, we sort of came up with some designs.  On another day, Mr. A and I went hunting for a printer to print our wedding invitation, the informal one, we found it, paid the deposit, everything happened in a whim.  Then on the last day, Friday, the cards are now in my hands.  Precious.

New-in | Scalp Care and Soaps

Reason for my order was to get my mum a jar of Vitamin D supplement.

Result of my order was a box of scalp care supply and soaps.

Glamabox | July, August 2013

Let me begin by highlighting three facts, in no particular order whatsoever.

1.  I renewed my subscription, with an annual fee of $1298.
2.  I am not at all satisfied with the July box.
3.  I am impressed by the August box.

The Week #5

Period covered: 10 - 16 August

Giveaway was ended.  Congratulations to Kirstie and Annamaria!  Both packages have been sent~

The Week in Acquisition

1.  New Camera

My sister's birthday gift is a Nikon D800 24-85 Kit from Mr A and I.  Therefore, I'll going to receive her used D5100.

2.  iHerb Order

Made an order because my mum wanted some vitamin supplements.  Of course I bought other things also, will confess in a separate post.

3.  Korean Souvenir

Honor came back from Korea and with a $1000 HKD budget, she procured products for me from two main brands, 3 Concept Eyes (3CE) and banila co., both not available locally.

banila co. Clean It Zero 100 ml - a cleansing balm, one of banila's best sellers.
banila co. Primer Primer Classic 30 ml - I picked the original 'Classic', also a best seller.
banila co. The Kissest Lip Crayon "08 Pink Lady" 120,000 won
banila co. Eye Love Brow Auto Pencil "03 Deep Brown" - how can a Korean haul be without some brow products?  That nation is brow-obsessed like I am!
banila co. Deep the Eyes Auto Gel Eyeliner "Smoke Grey" - because I do not have grey eyeliners, and because the MUA used this on me at my wedding make up trial...
3CE Skin Tone Control Primer "Mild Peach" 30 ml
3CE Shimmer Stick "Pink" 10 g- I'm slowly becoming a highlighter collector...
3CE Lip Pigment "Mellow Pink" 11 g - the Asian revenge on the OCC lip tar.  well, not the first one, as Sleek paints are made in Taiwan too... Picked one up to see how this works.
Holika Holika Sharpener
banila co. Secret Highlighter Brush - I have pictured it side by side MAC #138 for easy comparison.  First impression: #138 is denser, its bristles are shorter overall, and firmer (not rougher though) than banila co.

Left: MAC, Right: Banila Co.
4.  Glamabox Renewal

Despite the not so impressive July box, the August box blew me away.  Therefore, in a stormy night, bored, on my iPad, I made an annual subscription.  Now I am getting not just a little excited looking forward to my September box!

5.  Glamashop Shopping

With the intention to spend my Glamapoints and newly acquired cash coupons (from my annual subscription), I went ahead and ordered the special "Less is More Box" along with some other things.  Pictures will be updated in my monthly Journal. ;)

6.  Lucky Draw

Entered a lucky draw hosted by Watson's a little while back.  Just realised I won, and Jen helped to brought home a big tub of mask.  Herborist is a Chinese natural brand using herbal ingredients and some Chinese medicine concept.  A very generous gift and Jen aleady said she's going to use a lot of it.

Herborist T'ai Chi Detoxifying & Nutrient Clay 290 g - worths $450!
Herborist Hydrating & Moisturizing Emulsion 5 ml

Weekly Favourites

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Mousse Water Base
The silver tube.  Despite having an array of sun protection in rotation.  This is my go-to.  Moisturising, just a tad bit richer than the blue tube, and very comfortable through-out a whole day's wear.

Dariya Set Up Lip Treatment
It has a nice sweet scent, pale milky pink glossy hint, and comfortable smooth balmy texture.  Mentioned previously in my collective first impression review - link!

Must-Read of the Week

If you want some insightful advice regarding beauty spending, blogging or such, Best Things in Beauty has a lovely post to read - link!

A cream foundation that sounded spectacular.  One that I will definitely try out and perhaps purchase next time I'm in Japan.  Suqqu Foundation reviewed by Karima of Shameless Fripperies - link!

Suqqu Frame Fix Cream Foundation - reason mentioned above

New-in | Bourjois Summer 2013

Bourjois is one of my weaknesses when it comes to beauty brands.  I have, not too long ago, done an entire inventory post - link! - for this brand, with products collected and loved for years.

Last week, intended to buy nothing, I bought and brought a bag-full of goodies home, spending a total of $600 (about US $77).  Perhaps it is because I haven't gotten anything from them for a while (since last October); perhaps it is because I wanted a Chanel cream blush but couldn't justify paying for one (Bourjois owns Chanel); perhaps the saleslady is too keen and kind... anyway... Individual prices will be listed down below, although I'm uncertain about them; in fact, to this day, I'm still uncertain why I came out from Seibu with $600 less.  I have some serious problems...

The Week #4

Guerlain, Miss Hana, Chanel

Period covered: 3 - 9 August

Giveaway - link! - ending today!!

I feel bad not writing more for the blog this week.  A finished fortnight post is due this week, but I haven't get around filling in the words - pictures are done though - I'll try to get it done tomorrow or early next week... My excuse for being absent, first, I've been under flu attack.  My sister passed it to Mr A in a hot pot meal the week before last (yes mid-Summer hot pot), then Mr A, of course, passed it along to me.  I'm now 90% done with the virus, but stuck in a lot of unfinished business regarding several different matters, one of which is my wedding.  Surprise!  No.  o_0

Shameless Spoil #19 | Another Scary Mail...

... this time, from Great Britain...

Not long  (in fact, less than a month) ago, I received a bag of goodies from Sam as the 'prize package' of our little competition - you'll have to read it yourself to find out - post link!  She made a beautiful mistake putting duplicates of the Rimmel Apocalips "Celestial" in that parcel, so she decided to send me the "Nova", again, in another envelope.

The frightening surprising thing is, all these came along with that little lip lacquer!  As a mini token of appreciation, I have actually made swatches of the colour make up, please scroll down to the bottom if you fancy~

The Week #3

Period covered: 27 June - 2 August

Oh yea!  World Youth Day 2016 is announced to be held in Krakow, Poland.  A beautiful destination I have visited in 2005.  Should I pay a pilgrimage again three Summers later?  I have plenty of time to ponder...

Oh and also, remember to check out my current Giveaway - link! which will end on 10th Aug.  Not a big deal if you find the prizes this time small, 'cause I'm gonna hold a bigger one if this one has good response!

FOTD Friday | Glow from Within, and from Make Up

Happy Friday!
I'm listing out everything used on my face above, with short review of each item.  Is it me, or is it normal, that the morning of Friday seems to fly away swifter than other weekdays?  LOL

Products used:

Ahava Review | Light sunscreen + Radiance + Moisturizing Primer

Ahava Time to Hydrate Essential Moisturizing Lotion* appeared in my goodie bag as the key full size item to try.  It is a new release and being a sunscreen hoarder slash skin care junkie, I'm excited.

Price and Packaging
$420 for 50 ml.  This is new to the Time to Hydrate line - HK website link!
It comes in a sleek cylinder bottle, rubber lid and a great dispensing pump.  Very easy to handle daily, and travel-friendly.  Considering its viscosity, this is the ideal container, as opposed to a squeeze tube, which will probably allow too much to run out.

1, one pump 2, spread 3, absorbed
