Cosmetics of the Last Century

My friend Ari, whom I knew through blogging, tagged me to do A Piece of History post, which basically is to talk about old make up.  Read first her sharing here - link! - and then move on to read mine!

My interests in make up started early, probably since I was 8 or 10.  Although I didn't have much to spend on anything, with my limited pocket money, I do ask for make up for my birthday and special occasions, e.g. a full mark in a dictation, or report card day - that's how I celebrate my acedemic 'achievements'...  I will just roughly go through this pile of old make up (which were tossed out while I pack to move) and perhaps talk a little about their stories...  The title of this post is a little mis-leading, as some brands or products mentioned here were obtained in the 21st century - but hey, I'm the boss of my blog! :P

PN - A brand by Shiseido.  This was the young department store line before Maquillage was introduced.  They do fun blue and green eyes shadow palettes, with pearly cream base, matte accent colour and shimmer liner shade.  There are also liquid blush that comes in bottles and applicators of nail polishes.

FSP - Another brand under Shiseido.  Their mascara and lipgloss were very popular, and make up artist (featured in Japanese magazines) always have these eye shadows in their kit.  I'd consider this the ancestor of Majolica Majorca or Integrate, although the style of FSP is much cleaner and minimalistic.

Tony & Tina - I believe Tony and Tina were a couple, separated, and the brand is now gone.  They have a design of nail polish bottle that sits securely between your fingers, so that you don't have to hold it while you're painting.  I only had two of their eye shadows, both very creamy, silky and pigmented.

Guerlain Meteorites - Probably a gift, this Meteorites has lived with me for over a decade.  Time to say good bye and welcome the next one, perhaps the special Holiday 2013 edition (link!) ?

B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful - Now acquired by Lush, I think, this was one of the brands that excited me when I last visited London.  Other brands include, Neal's Yard Remedies, Rimmel, Barry M, etc...  I adore this cream blush for its colour and consistency.  The packaging is glam but the glue that holds the rhinestones on the case isn't the best.

Bourjois - Still around is this brand, but I had these two lipsticks that I obtain the first trip I visited Bourjois' local counter.  Not very common colour choices for a teenager, but they were like gems to me, now and then.  I'm more than happy that Bourjois is now widely available at various Watson's and Sasa, more readily available than ever~

Do you keep/hoard old make up?  (I finally tossed a bunch of them, as you can see...)

What are some of the brands you miss?

Beautiful wishes,
Lazy silly Jacq :")

  2. I love it! I haven't heard of any of the older brands but we can see how makeup has changed over the years.
