Maternity Update | Due This Month!

This week I went in for my 37 week check-up, and Ms. OG told us two important news.  One is she thinks my hip is wide enough to give birth naturally, and that she thinks Roma may come a little early (38-39 weeks) instead of 40+.  Two is, she remarked about the shortness of Roma's leg relative to his week-old, average statistics and length of his mum (i.e. me).  Mr. A and I have no bad feeling about this comment and we find it funny in some ways.  Now my sisters are determined to stretch (pull) his leg as much as possible, and Mr. A will force baby to do sports (he himself isn't particularly active...).  :P

Also this week, we finished the antenatal course we enrolled at our hospital.  The course covered prenatal care, labour and delivery, postnatal care and how to take care of the newborn.  It is definitely very introductory but the nurses and instructors (dietician, paediatric, midwife, etc) were helpful.  The other 'benefit' of the course is a lot of PR samples were distributed, from diaper to wipes, chew toys to newborn underwear, baby bath to feminine wash... Now I'm pretty well stocked with baby toiletry from brands like Chicco (Italy), SebaMed (Germany) and Mustela (France).

Weekly Update

How far along?  37 weeks!

Total weight gain/measurements:  On 35w6d, at the hospital with the more accurate scale, I was 71 kg. Waist/belly as measured at home was 42 inch.

Maternity clothes:  I am constantly boiling so I had to wear more shorts and tanks than the past few weeks.  Also, I'm amazed by how large my panties are every time I wash and dry them...  XD

Stretch marks:  Not so much darker in colour, but they moved upwards and now line around my belly button.

Sleep:  At night I can fall asleep pretty easily and sleep through the night in general.  Tends to wake up very early in the morning though, 6 am to 6:30 am, due to one of the three reasons - i) leg cramps ii) itchy belly or iii) need to urinate.  During the day I always feel tired but due to the heat and my weight I find it difficult to take naps.  :S

Best moment this week:  i) Having lunch catch-up with my girl A.  ii) Spending a fortune at Clé de Peau Beauté before picking up some other things from Shu Uemura & elsewhere.  iii) Having a hair cut, finally.

*taken after lunch with my girl A, by her.  I wish I wasn't squeezing my arm to my body because they look extra thick :S*

Miss anything?  Non-itchy belly.  Cool Autumn weather.

Movement:  Intensive.  Extensive.  He is a restless being (same as last week).  For the past weeks I have noticed Roma has periodic kicks or jumps, at for example, 2 or 3 seconds interval, which last for up to a few minutes.  This maybe hiccups, as I heard in our prenatal classes, but really I think it is Roma's limbs reflex action (?).  This week the hiccups have been more frequent.  One night Mr. A was feeling it with his palms in bed, but that lasted too long Mr. fell asleep before baby decided to stop.  XD

Food cravings:  Not much.  Except maybe Häagen-Dazs ice cream mooncakes and crispy sandwiches... :P

Anything making you queasy or sick?  The heat!  Come on, Autumn!

Gender:  Boy.

Labour signs:  Nil.

Symptoms:  Nothing new, nothing more severe than last week.

Belly button in or out?  Out.

Wedding rings on or off?  Off.

Happy or moody most of the time:  Sleepy, see above.  A little irritated by Tom Ford beauty counter this Friday (read it here), and I've decided not to buy anything from them this year! #frown

Looking forward to:  i) Receiving my Japan beauty haul from girlfriend A and UK beauty haul from girlfriend T.  ii) Mid-Autumn family meals.  iii) Delivering baby Roma safely and swiftly.
