My little sister Jen +Jennifer, whom I've done make up on before, is on her school Winter break. Tomorrow she'll be leaving for an American holiday (yes I have made yet another decently long shopping list). She came over to visit her nephew and invited me to play some crazy holiday look on her. We spent nearly 2 hours painting face, while the monster (her nephew) kept interrupting with attacks, attempts to destroy furniture, and finally, poo. Nonetheless, it was a very pleasant session.
The look we're going for was a tutorial by Karima (Shameless Fripperies). Products I used are whatever I managed to grab though, as I do not have most of the things she demonstrated with.
Oh, and good news, my mum did finally manage to track down the Shiseido Elixir device I mourned about. So thankful!!
1. Zoeva - Rodeo Belle
I bought four of Zoeva's eyeshadow palettes in a bundle quite some time ago, but never spent time playing with them much. Put this to good test today and it impressed me. I used Early Sunrise all over the lid. Rodeo Ready (mixed with some Early Sunrise) in the crease. Western Diva & Bang Bang (an amazing red!) over the liner and wing. Deadshot to define the lower lashline. Now I'm really lusting for the Cocoa Blend, En Taupe and Rose Golden...
2. MAC - Soft Ochre (not pictured)
Put a light layer over Jen's lids before eyeshadow.
3. En Coleur - Plume (from Sasa)
4. Innisfree Gel Liner - 7 Burgundy Sunset (read my haul)
At first, I wanted to use an eyeliner pencil by LB (a Japanese brand), but that crap dried out. Then I tried the Innisfree but it isn't very blendable. Finally I gave in and used a lip pencil, En Coleur, as Karima did. However, it was too red and didn't look well on Jen. So the look is achieved by both Plume (more blendable) and Burgundy Sunset (darker, deeper).
5. Sana - Super Quick Matte Liquid Eyeliner 02 Brown (from Sasa)
(this version is no longer on the website: http://www.sana.jp/superquick/)
6. Revlon - ColorStay Eyeliner Black
Filled in lash gap with liquid eyeliner, and tight-lined with Revlon.
7. Illamasqua - Phenomena
(no longer exists in single, but in palette: http://www.illamasqua.com/shop/eyes/eye-shadows/liquid-metal/liquid-metal-palette/)
8. The Body Shop - Shimmer Cubes Palette 32
(from TBS Outlet)
Dabbed the brilliant Liquid Metal (it literally looks like liquid silver) around inner corners. As Liquid Metal doesn't set perfectly, I put a little bit of Luminous Grey from the TBS Shimmer Cubes over it.
9. Kate - Black Feather Lash
10. Koji - Eyelash Fix Strong Type (from Sasa)
Found some unknown style of Spring Heart lashes and stuck them on after coating the curled lashes with some Kate mascara.

11. Anastasia Beverly Hills - Light to Medium (read my haul)
12. Makeup Revolution - Golden Sugar (read the haul)
Only used a touch of Havana in the ABH Contour Kit to contour the cheeks. Then I mixed the pink and mauve (2nd column from left, both shades) and threw it on as blush. It was too shimmery and too light, not the most flattering. Luckily Jen has invisible pores (holy youth!), so it didn't ruin the look.
13. Kiss Me - Ferme High Cover Concealer 01 (from a swap)
14. Sofina Primavista Ange - Liquid Foundation UV
15. Hera - Precious Powder (no longer available)
Jen's skin has no big issue, so I just brushed a thin layer of concealer under her eyes, followed by a thin layer of foundation all over her face to even things out. Set the under-eye and area around the nose with some loose powder and that's it.
16. Gosh - Brow Kit 001 (from Watson's, now they don't carry Gosh)
17. Maybelline - Fashion Brow 5 Dark Brown
A mix of the two lighter brown powders in the palette. I really like this brow palette especially for doing others' brows. Set brows with some coloured brow gel. The Fashion Brow didn't hold hair up very well though.
18. Etude House - Soft Touch Auto Lipliner #2 (from local EH store, need to type the haul out soon...)
19. Bite Beauty - Luminous Creme Lipstick Cin Cin (from a swap, thanks Traci!)
On Sephora's website, Cin Cin is described as Tropical Coral, but I find it to be more muted. It is still not brown, natural, and toned down enough, so I added in some lip liner. I find this warm natural coral lips really complementary to the cool wine tone eyes - good job, Karima!
|blush too shimmery is tricky, but not for someone whose pores are near invisible =.=|

Shall we end the post with two very delusive selfies by my lovely model?
